MŠK Žilina, seven-time champions, are a dominant force in the Slovak league. The 2011–12 season was the club's high point, when they won both the league title and the Slovak Cup. Their most recent championship victory was in 2017, and they have consistently finished in or near the top three since then.

DAC's predecessor was founded over a hundred and twenty years ago in Dunaszerdahely under the name Dunaszerdahely Sports Association (DSE). The club has been a dominant sports club in the region ever since. The football team has enjoyed success after success for years: they won the Slovak Cup in the mid-1980s and have consistently topped the league since the 2018 season, regularly qualifying for international cup competitions.

SV Waldhof Mannheim currently competes in the 3. Liga, the historic Mannheim club plays an important role in Baden-Württemberg's sporting life, with more than 10,000 spectators attending its matches every week.
